What Is a Certified Financial Planner?

Certified Financial Planner (CFP®)” is a professional certification mark for financial planners awarded by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards (CFP Board). This board is one of 26 organizations affiliated with the Financial Planning Standards Board (FPSB), the global owner of the CFP mark outside of the United States. Candidates must qualify to use this label by meeting education, examination, experience and ethics requirements, and by paying an ongoing certification fee.
